That's the Spirit!

I helped Bela gather clothes, shoes and toys for her school's Shoebox Project for kids affected by Typhoon Yolanda.

"Don't pick stuff that you don't like anymore. Pick things that you like. Give until it hurts," was my wise advise.

I allowed her to gather her thoughts and  after a few minutes, I asked: "Have you decided what to sacrifice?"

"Yes, papa," she proudly replied. "I will donate Kuya Gabi's toys!"

Wala Lang

"So what did you do all day, anak?" I asked Bela, mindful that classes were called off this morning.

"Nothing much, papa" was her bored reply.

"Nagpaganda lang."

Bossy

When asked by a cousin if he preferred being an only child or having a sibling, Gabi replied.

"Sometimes it's annoying. But then again I can just be lazy and order her to do things for me."

Million People March

The long walk through the rain and the excitement of the Million People March took its toll on both Gabi and Bela who soon took a nap in the middle of Luneta. This is a day they will certainly remember for the rest of their lives.

Iba Na Ang Malusog

Gabi was diagnosed with dengue last Saturday. Because all hospitals in our area had no room, and with the advice of a dear doctor friend, we decided to take care of him at home. Key was to keep him hydrated, watch out for recurrence of weakness and fever and to have his platelets checked every day. This is Day 3. So far, so good.

I guess Gabi's immune system is strong enough. Iba na talaga ang malusog.

Don't Look Back

Don't look back, Wawel, don't look back,

No more pain, no more worry, no more fear.
I've got your back, dear brother, we've got your back,
Rest now my partner, my roommate, my dear.

Bela, the Soccer Player

Bela and her 5 and Under team mates battle Atletico Diliman to a thrilling 3-3 draw. Bela scores all three goals for her team. Not bad for someone who cried the first time she tried out for the team saying that the coaches' loud voices scared her.

Bravo Bela!

My Fashionista Bela

Bela loves to dress up. Especially on Wednesdays, uniform-free day in school. She chooses her outfits. And her accessories. Sometimes her choices are a bit quirky. But at least she always knows what she wants and will insist on wearing it. And no fail, she always seeks approval for her choices. "Don't I look pretty, Papa?"
